Firenadopocalypse

This weekend's planned activities included Oktoberfest, and then a food tour planned by bigsis. Oktoberfest was cancelled because a big fire was raging nearby.  And bigsis was stopped by a raging fire near the freeway.

Fire came within a few miles of our house, so I started listening to the county fire department scanner and folding laundry to pack in our go bags if we needed to evacuate. Lots of 50-year-olds with chest pains yesterday.

So that, in a nutshell, was our firenadopocalypse, and it was real. And it's not over, so that's something to look out for.

In the meantime, the sweet mama was a super poo this weekend. I bought her clothing online in the wrong sizes. She was disappointed and decided that the wrong sizes I sent mean that I don't love her. Do I think she's that size? WHY would I buy her something that doesn't fit?

I felt awful about that all weekend, even though it didn't make sense. The real thing driving her need to give me a hard time was that she wants to be with me every weekend and when she knows I am not working and I am not with her it hurts her feelings that we are not together. Doesn't really matter that I spent last weekend with her and spent all of Monday taking care of her car. My absence is painful to her.

So after my sulking and laundry folding and emergency bag stuffing yesterday I had some fun putting paint samples on my lady bathroom wall. Now that's a good time.

Decisions are made!

Plague Of Frogs

What's next?
Really, People?

The last year at the factory has been so hard, in multiple ways that I'm not at liberty to discuss. It's a slog, but I'm still in love with it and its people.

Yesterday my boss lost her job to restructuring. I can't imagine doing my job without her with me.

Also yesterday we learned that one cat (nose) has terminal cancer. Not unexpected for a 22-year-old. But our other boy, ears, is also somehow sick. This was two trips to the vet for mrguy in one day. One biopsy for ears. He is still at the vet's overnight, awaiting an ultrasound.

And an hour ago, mrguy smelled smoke in the middle of the night, got up, saw flames shooting out of our next door neighbor's entryway, called the fire department and saved their house from burning down.

Are we done yet?

Germany 2017 Post 11

From my notebook:

"Love is taking a tour of the Bauhaus in German when you speak no German".

also

"Almost crushed by large, drunk German man whose wife, Marlena, is a retired teacher with large breasts and a pension. He will inherit a lot of money when she dies".

I just want to say that the noodles, though simple, were delicious. We weren't interested in Greek food two nights in a row, so we went to this tiny restaurant situated next to the bottle store. The only other customers were two men, one old and very large and drunk to that point people get to when they want to talk and are just *thisclose* to picking a fight and being violent. The other was his younger co-worker, who was an immigrant and was slightly less drunk and apologetic. At one point they went out for a smoke and when the big guy came back in he wanted to talk about Trump and started to lose his balance on top of me. You know it's not good when they want to buy you a drink and start saying stuff like "Cheers, my American friend!!" I remember telling mrguy at one point "I think I can take the big guy if I need to," and kinda calculating if I could outrun them back to the hotel which was just a few blocks away.

Friedolf. My boobs reminded him of Marlena. I remember thinking that Marlena is glad he's not home tonight.
